Now she has released a new single "Get That Monkey Off Your Back" from her forthcoming album always has that will be produced by Jennifer Bryant aka Classy Silhouette.
Get That Monkey Off Your Back is not a song about a monkey nor is it about a person being referred to as a monkey. Nena Marcella's lyrical content always has a much higher level of consciousness to it. The phrase "Get That Monkey Off Your Back" is a term that has been used in regard to things that seem to keep you connected even if you don't want to be. In this instance and the most common use for this term in the streets is trying to kick a habit like a person fighting against a drug addiction. The addiction is the monkey and as long as you cannot break this habit...it is the monkey that's on your back. In this song Nena Marcella brings awareness that when recreational drug use begins to develop into a daily habit you are in danger of being a drug addict and tells the story of what comes along with that life. It may be time to seek help getting "that monkey off your back". She used the phrase previously in the song Pay For That when she was addressing what could possibly make someone think they could get away with stealing and not get caught or think that karma will not come back to them. Insinuating that they would have to be on drugs or something must be altering their state of mind to the point where they are not making conscious decisions. In Pay For That she says "Get That Monkey Off Your Back. You must be smoking crack. Cuz I know for a fact. You gon' pay for that. You're not gonna get away with that." Now she has elaborated on this phrase in her new single "Get That Monkey Off Your Back" further explaining what this really means.. So this is actually an informative song. You can take a listen to "Get That Monkey Off Your Back" and acutally listen to her words because they really have substance to them. The song is available on .iTunes at this link https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/get-that-monkey-off-your-back-single/id1163373076 Nena Marcella's purpose is not to bring negativity to the forefront. She uses her lyrical craft to share stories and spread conscious messages to those who desire to stimulate their minds with positive affirmative information. Listening to Nena Marcella is a learning experience. So if someone was trying to find a way to fuel negativity it would only backfire. You would definitely have to do some homework in order to find the negativity that you are looking for and even then you would realize that the negativity was in your own mind and not in Nena Marcella's lyrics and possibly awaken another level of consciousness within yourself.
